*written the day of the proposal*
It was a beautiful day in April, just the right kind of day he thought as he woke up. He smiled and sat down to his computer, chatting for awhile, then heading to lunch. After lunch he began feeling a bit of the nervousness he knew he would feel all day, by the time he and his friends headed out to the lake he almost felt sick with anticipation. But he was happy, and this is why...
3 years earlier this boy had met a girl on the internet, and his heart was so happy with her that he just had to ask her to be his girlfriend. They lived in the same state after he moved to her college and they came to deeply love each other through thick and thin. There was nothing about her that he didn't love.
And so came April 11, 2009, and this man woke up with so much joy in his heart.
When they got out to the lake he was sad to see it so crowded, he wanted it to be a private moment and special. there were even all these people sitting on the dock where he wanted to ask her, but as time passed and it got colder, and he realized that things would still work out, he felt more calm, though still with butterflies in his stomach.
Then he just decided it was time.
"You wanna go sit on the dock?" he asked.
"Sure," she said. none the wiser.
They walked out on the dock and sat down at the edge of it, watching the sun pass through the clouds and listening to the lapping of the water against the shore. It was very peaceful.
"You know," he began "i love Easter, cause it's all about new life, and new beginnings..."
He didn't feel that was the best way to start it, so he muttered off and she giggled, he wondered if she caught on or not, but he let it go, and continued to stare out at the water.
"Okay, so yeah, I love water," he started again, this time trying to be more personal "when i was child it was the only place i felt graceful, and you, you're very graceful, so water makes me feel close to you, cause i can dance in it like you." She nodded
They continued to talk, but he didn't know how to start, finally as the sun seemed just right and the ring in his pocket burned a hole the size of Texas Justin just did what he does best, asked in simple terms.
"I'm at a loss for words, I don't always know how to say things, and right now is one of them, so I'll just come out and say it, will you marry me?" He pulled the ring out of his pocket and handed it to her, to Zoe.
Her eyes got big and she began to cry, giggling and crying at the same time.
"YES!" she said, half under her breath, but he could understand her. She hugged him tight, crying into his shoulder and he felt more at peace, and more joyful than he had ever in his life.
Even now as he writes this there's still butterflies in his stomach, but it's a good feeling, today the most beautiful woman in the world agreed to marry me, and I couldn't be happier.
